The deeper an ice pick point can be pushed into an ice block, the easier the block splits. Shipmate has a FULL TAPERED BLADE to allow maximum concentration of force at the point. The spear-like blade is easily pushed deep into ice. Short tapers just do not work. If they did, common nails could serve as ice picks. The less flex in the blade the greater the control and force at the point. Shipmate's stainless steel blade simply does not flex under normal use. Resulting concentration of controlled force allows easy and safe splitting the smallest of ice pieces. Shipmate's special handle design accomodates almost every hand size and is shaped to prevent accidental roll-off from counters and decks. The blue handle is molded of high impact marine plastic, assuring a lifetime of trouble-free service.
