Lets you find the bottom in traditional style: no electronics, no moving parts, rarely known to malfunction or give false readings due to junk in the water. This depth sounder is solid bronze with a number of sensible features. The 3-lb. bronze weight is safer and more durable than lead. Hexagonal cross-section means no rolling on deck. Cavity in base can be used for taking bottom samples (useful for piloting, diving, or anchoring considerations). Comes complete with 60 feet of dacron line, knotted every fathom, a canvas sea bag, and booklet with directions, alternate uses, and lead line lore.
