Alternator Regulator "Safe-T-Plus"

The new SAFE -T- PLUS alternator regulator, with its unique DUAL SENSING feature. One Sensing line connects to the alternator output terminal where it constantly monitors the output and safety controls the voltage. The other sensing line connects to the batteries and allows for a complete battery charge cycle. Most other regulators are connected to only one sensing point, typically the positive terminal at the battery. This can be very dangerous because usually the alternator output is connected to the various battery banks being charged through some type of switch or device such as a diode isolator or relay. Should at any time one of these devices fail, or the battery switch be accidentally turned OFF, the battery voltage will drop because the alternator output is no longer connected to the batteries, causing the regulator to turn the alternator fully on. The resulting dangerously high voltage condition, over 100 volts, will cause damage to the alternator and any other loads still connected to the alternator output.

The SAFE -T- PLUS regulator is the first to address this dangerous problem. It will safely control the output voltage under any condition and still provide for accurate battery charging .

The dual sensing ALTRA regulator, using the battery sense input, allows the battery to be fully charged while in the bulk charge stage. After the battery reaches the bulk charge limit the regulator switches to ACCEPT charge stage and continues to control the voltage which is now sensed from the alternator output terminal. Any voltage drop between the alternator output and batteries can be compensated for by using the acceptance and float voltage adjustments on the regulator and measuring voltage at the batteries with a digital volt meter.
Never again be concerned about accidentally turning OFF the battery switch while the engine is running.
